Most of our alums have a B.A. or B.S. degree and some have an M.A. or Ph.D. degree. Patrick Kenney is one of the few with three degrees! He earned his B.A. in 1978, his M.A.P.A. (Master of Arts in Public Administration – this program was discontinued in 1988) in 1979, and his Ph.D. in 1983. After receiving his doctorate, Pat taught political science at
Monmouth College in Illinois and Wichita State University. In 1986 he joined the faculty at Arizona State University and he has served as chair of the Department of Political Science at ASU since 2002. He is a nationally recognized scholar studying American elections, and his research has been published by Princeton University Press, Prentice Hall, and many of the leading political science journals. His most recent work has been on the impact of negative campaign advertising. A Cedar Rapids native, Pat returns to Iowa often to visit family and friends.
