Omar Isaacs (B.A. ’05) traveled all of the way from his native Bahamas to go to school at Iowa. Now he is back home working as a Public Relations and Communications Officer for the Ministry of Tourism and he invites all of us to travel to the Bahamas. With winter on its way this sounds like a pretty good idea! Omar was recruited to Iowa to be a sprinter on the track team and he was a letter winner in 2003, 2004, and 2005. At the 2004 Iowa Open he won the 60 meters competition with a time of 6.90, which ranks sixth on Iowa’s all-time best performance list. In his position with the Ministry of Tourism, he is responsible for promoting Grand Bahama Island, one of the top vacation spots in the Caribbean. Until a few months ago, he edited the Island’s website and worked with local businesses to compile and distribute public relations material. Just recently, he was promoted to a position in the Ministry Office in London to promote Bahama tourism in Europe. He will also begin work on a Master's degree while in London.
