John Nugent (B.A. '91, and later earned his Ph.D. in Government at the University of Texas at Austin ’97) has just published Safeguarding Federalism: How State Governments Protect their Interests in National Policymaking (University of Oklahoma Press, 2009).
Lauren McCarthy (’06), the outreach coordinator of the UI Honors Program, received the first Outstanding Honors Alumni Award. This award was presented at the annual Honors Recognition Ceremony in April.
Political science major, and soon to be alum, Andrew Henning, has accepted a position at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Criminal Section in Washington, D.C. as an honors paralegal specialist. His section handles human trafficking, hate crimes, police officer misconduct, and abortion clinic bombings.
In February of 2008, Caleb Hunter (B.A. '01 in Communications and Political Science) was appointed the Executive Director for the Iowa Republican Party.
