Stanley-Hua Hsiang Chair in Chinese Culture and Institutions
in the Department of Political Science, University of Iowa

The University of Iowa invites nominations or applications to fill the C. Maxwell and Elizabeth M. Stanley Family and Hua Hsiang Chair of Chinese Culture and Institutions. The chair holder must have a distinguished record of scholarship on Chinese politics and qualify for appointment as an advanced associate or full professor in the Department of Political Science. The chair holder must have sufficient reading and speaking skills in the Chinese language to conduct research using primary sources. He or she must be able to teach and publish research in English. The ability to publish in Chinese is desirable. Starting date is negotiable. More information is available at http://international.uiowa.edu/chinachair.

The Stanley-Hua Hsiang chair holder will play a leadership role in promoting the study of Chinese culture and institutions on and off campus. He or she will join a supportive community of specialists on China, representing such fields as Art History, Education, History, Journalism, Law, Literature, Religious Studies and Second-Language Acquisition. The University of Iowa Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (http://international.uiowa.edu/centers/caps/) provides scholarly support and collaborative opportunities for over 30 faculty members with expertise in east and southeast Asia as well as for students from the University and the region.

The review of applicants will begin March 20 and will continue until the position is filled.
