Undergraduate

Three years ago political science major Mitchell Livingston was a senior at MFL Mar-Mac High School in Monona, Iowa. Now he is on the school board. That’s right, he was elected to the MFL Mar-Mac school board in September, 2009, beating a incumbent. Mitchell serves his home community in another important way too. Since June, 2009, he has been the Executive Director of the Monona Chamber and Economic Development organization. In this role, he promotes economic growth for the city through new commercial, retail, and industrial recruitment, tourism development, and existing business expansion. Mitchell splits his time between his duties in Monona and his studies here at Iowa, making the 120 miles one-way commute at least a couple of times a week. Here on campus he has found time to be involved in resident hall government, intramural sports, and University Democrats.
